Cleaning the GD40 Detector

Factory Recommended Method

Use only 99% Isopropyl alcohol.

Alcohol that is less than 99% will take longer to dry. Sometimes much longer. Denatured Alcohol is not 99% and should not be used.

  • Clean with 99%  isopropyl alcohol. Pour alcohol for five minutes.
  • Blow out with Clean & Filtered instrument air, until completely DRY. (Usually requires 12 hours at 1 l/min.)

 

Better Method

  • Plug the outlet.
  • Fill the analyzer with 99%  isopropyl alcohol. Tap gently to allow bubbles to escape.
  • Drain and repeat until alcohol comes out clean, then at least 2 more times.
  • Blow out with Clean & Filtered instrument air, until completely DRY.
  • Usually requires 12 hours at 1 l/min

Best Method

  • Remove detector from panel.
  • Remove the outlet fitting and replace with a pipe plug
  • Fill detector half full with 99% isopropyl alcohol.
  • Plug inlet fitting
  • Shake
  • Drain and repeat until alcohol comes out clean, then at least 2 more times.
  • Blow out with Clean & Filtered instrument air, until completely DRY. (Usually this requires 12 hours at 1 L/min.)
