Pressure - What is Software Write Protect?

Software

The Yokogawa transmitters with HART or BRAIN protocol communication have a Software Write Protection (Password) that can be set to protect the configured parameters.

Using FieldMate or a Hand Held Communicator (HHC), the Write Protect can be set to “Yes” or “No.” When the Write Protect is “Yes,” an 8-digit password is entered to make setting changes via FieldMate, an HHC, or Local Parameter Setting (LPS). This Password can be any 8 alphanumeric characters the technician chooses. Once the password is set-up, if a change is required, the unit is un-locked using the password. When unlocked, the technician has 10 minutes to make the changes needed. Once the 10 minutes have expired, the password must be re-entered for an additional 10-minute time block.

Software Write Protect status is indicated on the integral display (if equipped). When a key symbol is displayed, the write-protect function is on (enabled).
