OX100/OX102 Limiting Current Type Oxygen Analyzer

Q1 Explain examples of applications suitable for the OX100 and OX102.
A1 The OX100/OX102 limiting current oxygen analyzer is an advanced oxygen analyzer which is capable of measuring a wide range of oxygen concentrations, from ppm level to percentage level.
This analyzer uses a compact zirconia limiting current sensor.
The OX100/OX102 is best suited to ppm-level oxygen measurement.

Globe box for processing crystal parts
Since the globe box is filled with inert gas, it is the most suitable environment for the limiting current type oxygen analyzer.

Globe box in research lab
When using an organic solvent in the globe box, install the optional sampling unit near the sampling point.

N2 reflow furnace and auto soldering machine
When you want to perform measurement in a place where the alcohol and flux contained in solder have not been removed, install the optional sampling unit near the sampling point. Use sampling unit if organic solvents present.

Clean room atmosphere
When you want to perform measurement in an atmosphere where an organic solvent is present, install the optional sampling unit near the sampling point.

Aging machine
Oxygen deficiency application :
Oxygen deficiency monitoring, etc. An alarm can be generated using the lower limit alarm contact.
Food application :
When you want to perform measurement in an atmosphere where alcohol that was used to disinfect equipment is present, install the optional sampling unit near the sampling point.
Note that flammable gas, corrosive gas, silicon gas, and oxidation reduction gas cannot be measured. Gases containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide, methane, and propane also cannot be measured.

Q4 How is the instrument calibrated?
A4 [1] In case of OX100
  1. Before using the 0 to 1000 ppm O2 range, perform one-point calibration with calibration gas of concentration 1000±100ppmO2
  2. Before using the 0.1 to 25 % O2 range, perform one-point calibration with atmospheric air.
  3. If you will be using both ppm and % ranges, be sure to calibrate the ranges in the following order : first perform one-point calibration with air, then 1000 ppm O2 calibration.

[2] In case of OX102
Before shipment, a complete calibration of the OX102 oxygen analyzer from 0 to 100 ppm to 0 to 25 % was performed with standard calibration gases at the factory.
When using the equipment right after the delivery, first check the reading of the converter with the sensor in atmospheric air only.
Calibration is basically performed at one point for each measuring range.
Perform calibration following the procedure shown in the flow chart in the following pages.
For complete calibration, contact YOKOGAWA for factory calibration.
  1. Calibration Point : Atmospheric air,
Calibration Point Setting Range : Atmospheric air or 15 to 25 %O2 gas cylinder
  2. Calibration Point : 20 ppm,
Calibration Point Setting Range : 15 to 25ppmO2 gas cylinder
  3. Calibration Point : 100 ppm,
Calibration Point Setting Range : 80 to 120ppmO2 gas cylinder
  4. Calibration Point : 500 ppm,
Calibration Point Setting Range : 400 to 600ppmO2 gas cylinder
  5. Calibration Point : 1000 ppm,
Calibration Point Setting Range : 900 to 1100ppmO2 gas cylinder
  6. Calibration Point : 10000 ppm,
Calibration Point Setting Range : 8500 to 9500ppmO2 gas cylinder

Q5 Notes on sensor life and replacement of sensor
A5 The sensor is of limited life, and its service life varies depending on operating conditions.
When you try to perform an atmospheric air one-point calibration and the ALM lamp is on for 2 seconds or more without calibration being performed, the sensor has reached the end of its life. Replace the sensor.
Be sure to perform the following tasks after replacing the sensor.

[1]  In case of OX100
  1. Before using the 0 to 1000 ppm O2 range, perform one-point calibration with calibration gas of concentration 700 to 1300 ppmO2. 0-1000ppm.
  2. Before using the 0.1 to 25% O2 range, perform one-point calibration with atmospheric air.
  3. If you will be using both ppm and % ranges, be sure to calibrate the ranges in the following order : first perform one-point calibration with air, then 1000 ppm O2 calibration.

[2]  In case of OX102

After replacement, the sensor parameters specified in the Sensor Parameter Table of a new sensor must be entered following the procedure described in User's manual.

Q6 Can the output be held during calibration and maintenance?
A6 The output hold function is not available for the OX100 and OX102 Current Limit Type Oxygen Analyzers.

Q7 Can alarms be set?
A7 (1) With OX100, the alarm is set as follows when the option code is specified at the time of ordering.
The alarm value is to be set by the customer.
When the setpoint is exceeded, the ALM lamp and contact turn ON.

     OX100-1□□□□ : High limit alarm
     OX100-2□□□□ : High limit alarm
     OX100-3□□□□ : Low limit alarm

(2) With OX102, the higher and lower limit values are to be set by the customer.
When the PV rises above the higher limit setpoint, the H.ALM lamp and contact turn ON.
When the PV falls below the lower limit setpoint, the L.ALM lamp and contact turn ON.

Q8 What is the purpose of using the sampling unit?
A8 When you want to perform measurement in an N2 reflow furnace where the alcohol and flux contained in solder have not been removed, or when you use an organic solvent in the globe box in a laboratory, the alcohol, flux, and organic solvent will affect the measurement accuracy.
The sampling unit is used to eliminate organic solvents using a built-in activated carbon filter, when the sample gas contains a small amount of organic solvents.
The sampling unit comprises two membrane filters to eliminate dust and mist, a suction pump to draw a sample gas, an activated carbon filter to eliminate organic solvents, and a flowmeter to monitor sample gas flow rates.
