Company History - Yokogawa Australasia

Under the name of United Engineering, the US company began operation in 1967 as a sales representative for process analyser manufacturers such as Hays, Davis Instruments, Bendix and Totco. It soon became apparent that improperly engineered and installed Analyser Systems were creating negative customer attitudes toward process analysers in general. Better sample system designs, new techniques for pre-packaging these systems before shipment to the job-site and single-source responsibility appeared to offer potential for meeting the unfulfilled customer expectations.

To satisfy the customers’ needs, the US company expanded into Analyser Systems engineering, design, and pre-packaging. In 1970, United Engineering purchased Method Control Corporation and changed the company name to United Controls. The company also phased out its sales representative business in order to remain unbiased in the selection of process analysers for customers. United Controls continued to grow and in April 1973 became the United Controls Division of Envirotech Corporation. This division established itself as the worldwide leader in the field of pre-packaged process Analyser Systems and in 1981 it was acquired by Xertex Corporation. In July, 1986, it became a division of Measurementation Incorporated, and from there established itself overseas. In 1991 Measurementation Australia was set up as an independent Australian company to enhance business in the South East Asian market.

In 1998, Yokogawa acquired Measurementation Inc. to fulfill customer needs for a complete analyser systems package. For similar goals, in September 2000, Measurementation Australia was bought by Yokogawa Australia.
