The Yokogawa ProSafe-RS Safety System released on February 2 can be seamlessly integrated with the CENTUM CS 3000 R3 (hereafter CS 3000)and share the same control network.
The ProSafe-RS controller (hereafter SCS)can be directly connected to the CS 3000 V net control network so that it can be operated and monitored from an HIS in the same manner as an FCS. Process data, messages, and system status of CS 3000 and Prosafe-RS can be comprehensively monitored in the same windows on an HIS.

The SCS and FCS have the same unit configuration and the same size, allowing that they are mounted in the same cabinet. And they have the common maintenance procedure for exchanging hardware components. As the communication gateway(CGW)、bus converter(BCV)、repeater, and other V net components can be shared by both the ProSafe-RS and CS 3000, the ProSafe-RS can easily be deployed in a distributed configuration. |

In order to integrate programmable controllers(PLC) and non-Yokogawa process control systems (PCS) into the Yokogawa CS 3000 system for comprehensive monitoring, a System Integration OPC Station(SIOS) with gateway features is being released. With a SIOS, it is now possible in the CS 3000 operation and monitoring windows to read process data and alarm and event messages from other control systems.
With the use of industry standard OPC interfaces, maximum connectability with other systems can be established at a minimum engineering cost. There is no need to create specific programs for the CS 3000 to access data on other systems. The OPC DA 2.0 interface prescribed by the OPC Foundation is used to access the OPC DA server of other vendors’ systems and acquire process data. The OPC A&E 1.1 interface is used to access the OPC A&E server and collect event and alarm messages.

A sequence of events manager(SEM) can now be used in a Vnet/IP environment. A SEM system can be compactly constructed using the controllers with the high-accuracy built-in clock synchronization function and Vnet/IP environment.
Moreover, small-scale SEMs can be built much more easily. If there are less than 500 SOE points, the SEM and HIS servers can share the same PC and Microsoft’s MSDE2000 (free) can be used instead of Microsoft SQL Server2000 for the database. Thus, it is possible to built a small-scale SEM system at a reasonable cost.

It is now possible to upgrade a CENTUM CS 1000 (hereinafter CS 1000) to a CS 3000 and to combine CS 1000 and CS 3000 stations in a single system. Engineering tasks as well as the operation and monitoring of CS 1000 devices can be performed from the CS 3000. After upgrading, CS 3000’s functions such as a generic subsystem gateway (GSGW), compact controller (FFCS)、remote operation and monitoring function(HIS-TSE) can be introduced. It is also easier to expand the system by adding on new stations.
Additional hardware is not required to upgrade to the CS 3000. The project database is automatically updated、significantly reducing the number of engineering hours and associated costs.

Moreover, a non-redundant bus system can be upgraded to the CS 3000, by connecting to a new model of bus converter (BCV). |

The SmartPlant Instrumentation design tool developed by the US company Intergraph can be linked with the CS 3000, ensuring compatibility between the CS 3000 and the SmartPlant Instrumentation engineering data. With this capability, the engineering data will be upward compatible for the whole life cycle of the plant. Double inputs and neglected modifications can be prevented. Thus, plant design, plant operation, and maintenance are significantly improved.
The exchangeable data are limited to FCS configuration data including the function block configurations, Fieldbus device configurations and Fieldbus function block configurations.
