Interview with Federica Casati
“Yokogawa is like one big family” Federica is in charge of order handling, logistics and coordination at Yokogawa Italy since 2007. “I joined Yokogawa in 1998 as a part time temp at the order handling department during my study. After graduating in 1999 and looking for a job I was offered the opportunity to join the same department but then on a permanent contract.”
“I am 41 years old now and looking back at a rewarding career at Yokogawa. After 12 years, during which I studied English and Russian, I am now in charge of the order handling department whereas I am responsible for logistics and coordination of orders and projects. Lately my working area has widened form Italy, to Greece, Turkey and Libya. Special attention is paid to the coordination of the bigger orders with sometimes over 1000 instruments involved.”
Federica has a remarkable connection with Third World countries and shows an impressive human solidarity with the less developed countries in the world. In her spare time you can find her as a volunteer at the market in Milano selling Third World products like coffee, chocolate and hand made products form Africa, South America or Asia. The benefits are sent to local farmers in these countries. “That is what struck me when the earthquake and tsunami in Japan took place: all the colleagues worldwide were fundraising for the victims of this unfortunate disaster! I considered the atmosphere within Yokogawa already as warm and personal, but these actions proved it once more. We appeared to be just like a big family, for better and for worse.”
“I am very satisfied with the opportunities Yokogawa offered me since I started in 1999. Apart from the training courses I followed and the freedom I got to develop myself, I have grown into a self-assured responsible partner within the organization. I realize very well, taking into account the economic crisis that hit Europe, I should appreciate having such an attractive job. Apart from that, I enjoy my daily work thanks to my other 4 colleagues in our department. We get along very well”, Federica states.
As part of the job Federica travels to Germany and Holland. “There I meet colleagues from all over the world, where we discuss new trends, the upgrade of logistic information systems like SAP and exchange customer experiences.” Later this year Federica will join a meeting in Amersfoort, Holland: “I am already looking forward to that. I am eager to learn and ready to meet my colleagues form outside Italy.”
What the future holds for Yokogawa? “Let’s first continue and consolidate our business, being there for our customers. I personally hope to grow further in my position and contribute to the positive atmosphere that characterizes our company!”
