Internship/ Final Project

Yokogawa Europe Solutions, based in Amersfoort, is looking for a student who wants to do his/ her internship/ final project at Yokogawa.

Project description:
Optimise the current licensing mechanism by studying the current licensing request mechanism and procedures, proposing and designing a more efficient working method and implementing the necessary tooling.

Application:
One of the products delivered by Yokogawa is FAST/TOOLS, a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) package. The product is used for monitoring and directing continuous production facilities over large geographical areas, such as pipeline monitoring, well head management and offshore platform supervision. The product has evolved over the last 20 years into a high performance, multi-platform, web-enabled suite, deployed at locations all over the world.

Work description:
FAST/TOOLS is a licensed product utilised in projects worldwide. Customers request licenses based on the scale of the project and functions they require. The requests pass through a chain of steps from initial sales request, through verification, billing and final dispatch. License details are maintained in a customer database using Microsoft Access.

The current licensing mechanism is adequate for current applications, but requires optimising. The prospective candidate is expected to assist Yokogawa in this process, by studying the current licensing request mechanism and procedures, proposing and designing a more efficient working method and implementing the necessary tooling.

Skills:
The candidate is expected to have understanding of system analysis techniques and be able to apply these methods in a technical product environment. Furthermore the candidate should have some experience with building applications using Microsoft office and web development.
