Yokogawa Europe Solutions, based in Amersfoort, is looking for a student who wants to do his/ her internship/ final project at Yokogawa.
The Application Engineering department within Yokogawa is building SCADA and Data Historian systems mainly for the oil and gas industry. Within this department we have the possibility for the following project:
Google Earth integration into our SCADA software FAST/TOOLS
The FAST/TOOLS SCADA demo package is lacking a good quality Google Earth demo. We expect that the Google Earth functionality is to be integrated into the SCADA process displays based on the Google Earth Java Application Programmers Interface.
The demo will have to include dynamic process displays with a seamless integration of Google Earth with at least the following functions:

The demo will have to include dynamic process displays with a seamless integration of Google Earth with at least the following functions:
- Panning and zooming.
- Show dynamic process information.
- Show alarms and events.
- Anything else worthwhile showing on the process display. The FAST/TOOLS visualization layer is based on Java which means that the Google Earth integration also has to be programmed in Java.
- Training on the FAST/TOOLS product and engineering of SCADA systems.
- Investigate how to integrate Google Earth into FAST/TOOLS.
- Create a design document for this integration.
- Build and test the actual integration by means of a prototype.
- Create process displays with the Google Earth information included.
