Instrumentation Engineer (M/F)

Instrumentation Engineer (M/F)

Job

Objectives of the position:
  • To independently draw up total tenders using estimates of hours, a project approach, planning and material calculations, consultation with the Legal Affairs Department about the commercial conditions and monitoring the progress of the tender process up until the submission of a quotation.
  • To maintain close contact with the customer, suppliers and the relevant Account Manager during the tender process.
  • To ensure good communication with and flow of information between the customer, suppliers and SCE regarding the tenders.
  • To ensure proper communication as well as an efficient flow of information with regard to the tenders, between all the departments involved in the tender within SCE and possibly Yokogawa offices.
  • To ensure proper reporting to the management regarding the status and progress of the tender.
  • The Instrument Engineer reports to the Manager Project Sales
Basic responsibilities:
  • Translating the wishes and requirements of customer specifications into a suitable technical and commercial solution.
  • Maintaining close contact with the customer, suppliers and the relevant Account Manager during the tender process.
  • Giving presentations and/or demonstrations to the customer and carrying out technical discussions with the customer.
  • Conducting commercial negotiations with the customer together with the relevant Account Manager.
  • Playing an active role during the tender process regarding communication with the customer about technical issues and important areas for attention that need to be further coordinated with the customer during the tender process.
  • Independently drawing up total tenders, both commercial and technical, whereby the commercial content needs to be coordinated with the relevant Account Manager.
  • The technical and commercial content should be a correct translation of the package of requirements of the customer into a suitable tender and should ultimately result in a properly functioning solution.
  • The powers vested on the incumbent are further set down in the Yokogawa Management System.
Tasks:
  • Translating the wishes and requirements of customer specifications into totally suitable technical and commercial solutions whereby insight into and knowledge of the processes of the customer is essential.
  • Monitoring the progress of the tender process.
  • Maintaining close contact with the customer, suppliers and the relevant Account Manager during the tender process.
  • Giving presentations and/or demonstrations to the customer and carrying out technical discussions with the customer.
  • Conducting commercial negotiations with the customer together with the relevant Account Manager.
  • Playing an active role during the tender process regarding communication with the customer about technical issues and important areas for attention that need to be further explained in the quotation.
  • Contacts:
The major internal contacts will be maintained by the Project Sales, Operations, Major Accounts, Product Marketing and Legal Affairs departments and possibly by the Yokogawa organisations involved.
The major external contacts will be maintained with customers and suppliers and are concerned with the solutions offered or to be offered.

Profile
  • Graduate of a technical or commercial programme at an institution of higher professional education;
  • Experience in a technical project-based working environment;
  • Conceptual thinker;
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Service-oriented, flexible and accurate;
  • Strong communicator; self-motivated;
  • Demonstrates initiative and is creative in looking for solutions;
  • Fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Willing to travel.
