Siemens Moore & Yokogawa Industrial Safety Systems Renew OEM Supply Agreement

PHILADELPHIA - Siemens Moore Process Automation, Inc., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc., announced the renewal of their OEM Supply Agreement with Yokogawa Industrial Safety Systems B.V., for an additional five (5) years. Yokogawa ISS is part of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Japan.

Since September of 1997 Moore and Yokogawa have an OEM agreement in which Moore supplies a private-labelled version of the Quadlog® Safety PLC to Yokogawa. Yokogawa ISS markets the product under the brand name ProSafe® -PLC as a part of their ProSafe Safety products. This successful partnership has allowed both companies to capture a greater share of the Safety Systems market.

In 1997 Yokogawa evaluated the safety systems market direction and concluded that programmable electronic systems were the fastest growing segment of the market. The decisions were then to either develop their own product or partner with another manufacturer. Yokogawa chose the latter path and found Siemens Moore's new Quadlog introduction to be the most advanced and cost effective electronic safety system available. Recently Yokogawa ISS developed the ProSafe® -COM to add full integration facilities for the ProSafe® -PLC with the Yokogawa CENTUM CS 3000 DCS system.

According to Don Bogle, CEO of Siemens Moore, "There has been great synergy between our organisations. Yokogowa has strengths in markets where Siemens Moore is weak and visa versa. In terms of new product development, Moore is able to capture the market wisdom of Yokagawa ISS and benefit from the increased volume of the Yokogawa sales channel."

Founded in 1940, Siemens Moore Process Automation, Inc. is a global leader in providing innovative solutions to process measurement and control applications. Its instruments and control systems help to increase plant safety and productivity, reduce time to market and improve product quality in industries such as chemical and hydrocarbon processing, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, power generation, and pulp and paper. The company employs approximately 1,200 persons worldwide and had 1998 revenue of $168 million.
