Yokogawa focuses further on Oil and Gas Industry in West Africa

According to recent studies presented at the Underwater Intervention 2001 Conference in Tampa, Florida, the star of the upturn in the offshore Oil and Gas industry is West Africa. According to Industry Specialists, the maturity of the offshore fields in northwest Europe and the sizable deepwater fields awaiting development in West Africa will cause a dramatic shift in capital expenditure of the oil companies. Investments of up to US$ 10 billion per annum are forecast which includes sub-sea installations, FPSO’s and offshore pipelines. The majority of the new installations are expected to end-up in and around oil and gas rich Nigeria.

Yokogawa has already provided Instruments, Control- and Safety systems to major oil companies in Nigeria, either via Engineering & Procurement Contractors or direct through it’s local agent for a number of years.

Last year Yokogawa changed its representation in Nigeria to SUN Machinery, With offices in Port Harcourt and Kaduna, SUN Machinery employs 7 experienced engineers and is capable of providing training, maintenance and support services.

To be able to support the installed systems on the long term, SUN Machinery has moved into new premises which also house a training system, spare parts and documentation libraries. SUN Machinery is well connected to the outside world via telephone and fax, satellite phone and email.

Much of the design and construction of the anticipated new installations are expected to be contracted globally. Yokogawa’s Head Quarters in Tokyo, Japan and European Operations in Amersfoort, The Netherlands have established a Global Support team which focuses on meeting the emerging business needs.
