DAQstation – first Fieldbus Foundation network based paperless recorder

Yokogawa Europe B.V., one of the global leaders in recorders, is the first manufacturer to pass the Foundation Fieldbus Interoperability tests for the DAQstation. The DAQstation is the world’s first Fieldbus Foundation network based paperless recorder and the new generation of advanced videographic recorders.

The DAQstation with Foundation Fieldbus interface offers a small-scale fieldbus based monitoring system or can be utilised to transmit existing analogue signals to the digital fieldbus. A combination of both options is also possible. Furthermore, the DAQstation now includes a built-in web-server and an e-mail generation function. The Web-server offers remote display control through the Internet by using commercially available web browsers. The e-mail function sends messages on alarm occurrence, periodic data, report data, etc.

The MODBUS master function easily connects and monitors other devices like PLC's and controllers through a RS422/485 interface in addition to the normal input channels.

The DAQstation is designed to meet the needs of operators, plant engineers and plant management. It features unparalleled ease of use with a special 'mouse-like' keypad and intuitive menus. The 10-Base-T Ethernet interface gives unprecedented connectivity with LAN, WAN and the Internet. Users can choose from a range of graphical display screens to view measured data, alarm statuses and messages. A brilliant colour TFT display provides outstanding clarity and definition of displayed information. It is very easy to find specified historical trend data on the DAQstation's displays, stored in its internal or external memory (floppy disk, ZIP or ATA flash card). Automatic file transfer by the FTP protocol provides a solid data backup and makes the trend and event data, alarm logs and summary reports available for engineers and management.

The DAQstation family includes the DX100 and DX200 series. The DX200 series features a large 10.4" colour high resolution TFT display, and is available with 4, 8, 10, 20 or 30 universal inputs. The smaller DX100 series features a 5.5" colour high resolution TFT display, and is available with 2, 4, 6 or 12 universal inputs. Dedicated software supports the new enhancements on top of functions like DAQstation remote configuration, file transfer, on-line monitoring, historical trend analysis in a client/server PC environment. The DAQstation itself acts as a client or server on a LAN or WAN.

About Yokogawa and Fieldbus
Fieldbus is the language of the 21st century and one of the key technologies for the next generation. Yokogawa is no stranger to digital communications. Already in 1987 we introduced the 'hybrid' analogue/digital BRAIN protocol and brought users the benefits of the analogue/digital HART protocol soon after. Yokogawa's commitment to fieldbus goes back to 1984, when we first took an active role in the IEC (International Electrotechnical Committee) and ISA (International Society for Measurement and Control) committees formulating the fieldbus standard. From 1989 through 1993, we were executive committee members of the International Fieldbus Consortium and participants in its field trials. We continued our development efforts as founding members of the InterOperable Systems Project in 1992 and its successor, the Fieldbus Foundation two years later.
