Electric Corporation announced the release of version 3.03 of the CENTUM CS 3000 Integrated Production Control System for large- and medium-scale plants and version 3.03 of the CENTUM CS 1000 Production Control System for medium- and small-scale plants. The upgrades will be available on September 24.

The major functional enhancements in the new releases include the following:
  • World's first distributed control systems supporting Microsoft Windows XP* operating system
  • Certified for Type N European explosion-proof standards (CENTUM CS 3000 R3.03 only)
  • Reinforced compliance with FDA's 21 CFR Part 11
  • Remote communication capability enhancement for plants and equipment distributed over a wide area (CENTUM CS3000 R3.03 only)
"Yokogawa rolled out the world's first distributed control system CENTUM in 1975 and has to date supplied 16,000 systems to locations worldwide," said Mr. Akira Nagashima, Executive Vice President of Industrial Automation Systems Business. "DCSs, having become sharply prevalent from the late seventies and spanning the eighties, have reached the time to be replaced and demand will increase accordingly. Yokogawa remains committed to remaining at the forefront of global competition by ongoing product development to ensure a stable supply of products exhibiting technical superiority. We are committed to incorporate the latest leading-edge technologies, and CENTUM CS 3000 R3 and CENTUM CS 1000 R3 are continually being upgraded to meet the ever-changing needs of the marketplace."

This plan of action embodies the Yokogawa concept of 'continual adoption of new functions with assured function continuity'. With the enhanced functionality of the R3.03 release, the company is hoping to install over 350 new DCS systems worldwide in 2003.
