Release of DL7400 series digital oscilloscopes

Featuring the world's first combination of 8 analog input and 16-bit logic input channels

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has developed the DL7400 series of digital oscilloscopes. The series features an unprecedented mixed-signal multichannel capability, which combines eight analog input channels with a 16-bit logic input channel, while simultaneously achieving a maximum sampling rate of 2 GS/sec, a bandwidth of 500 MHz, and a maximum memory capacity of 16 megawords. The DL7400 series is scheduled to be available on December 6.

Electronic circuits have become increasingly faster these days, leading to the demand for observing logic signals not only as a sequence of logical high and low states, but also as waveforms. Since logic control has become popular, it is now necessary to observe mixed-signal waveforms from both high-speed analog and control logic signals. Additionally, to control costs and improve R&D efficiency, there is a growing demand for a single instrument which can make multi-channel observations.

As logic signals used in the control systems of audiovisual products and PC peripherals are becoming faster, user demands for higher speed sampling are intensifying. Accordingly, the value of long record length memory is being highly recognized in the market. The reason for this recognition is not limited to long-time measurement, however. Long record length memory is very useful for capturing fixed-timeframe measurement at higher sampling rates.

Yokogawa was among the first to identify these needs in the marketplace and has been endeavoring to develop products with a focus on memory capacity.

In order to support these market trends, the DL7400 series of digital oscilloscopes has has the ability to simultaneously observe signals of up to 24 points of measurement through the combination of eight analog input and 16-bit logic input channels. The 16-megaword, long-record-length memory allows users to closely observe data acquired over a long period of time.

Product Features

World's first mixed-signal multichannel input of 8 analog and 16-bit logic channels
With this feature, users can view the high-speed logic signals of a PC peripherals such as a flat panel display or a printer in an analog manner. Thus, users can measure the timing relationship with other logic signals while simultaneously observing noise or waveform quality.

Variety of data analysis functions
The DL7400 series incorporates the design concept "a wide choice of data analysis and search functions" of Yokogawa's SignalExplorer series. With the addition of user-defined computation functions, users can work with data from many different angles.

Compact, energy-saving design
The DL7400 series employs proprietary dedicated ICs. Consequently, the series remains about the same size as 4-channel models, while its analog input has twice as many channels. Yokogawa has succeeded in downsizing the DL7400 series by 30% in volume from its predecessors, as well as reducing the weight by 40%. In addition, the DL7400 consumes 50% less power than previous models.
