Getting to the Isle of Wight


By Aeroplane to London (Heathrow or Gatwick Airport)

Both international airports are serviced by train to the major rail terminals in London. Waterloo provides the rail link to the South of England.

By Aeroplane to Southampton (from Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels and other European and UK cities)

Taxi or train to Southampton.

By Train from Waterloo to Southampton

Intercity trains from London (Waterloo) connect at Southampton with a bus service to the Red Funnel Services Terminal at Southampton Town Quay. Travel time is approximately 1 hour for the train and 5 minutes for the bus.

By Road to Southampton

From the north, take the M3 southbound and follow signs for M27 West. From the west, north or east, exit the M27 at junction 3 (M271) Southampton West and Docks.

Continue to end of the M271 and turn left on to the A35 at the roundabout which leads up to the Mountbatten Way dual carriageway. Continue along Mountbatten Way through several sets of traffic lights, past the main dock entrance, then to a roundabout just past the Post House and De Vere hotels. Continue straight on at the roundabout a short distance to the entrance to Red Funnel terminals.

The Red Funnel Car Ferry Terminal 1 is first on the right. The Hi-Speed Terminal 2 is right into Town Quay at the next set of traffic lights. Car parking for both terminals is by the entrance to Terminal 1.

By Catamaran or Car Ferry to Cowes

The recommended travel route is by Red Funnel Catamaran (foot passengers only) to Cowes or Car Ferry (foot passengers and vehicles) to East Cowes. Crossing time is approximately 20 minutes for the Catamaran and 55 minutes for the Car Ferry.

Cowes is accessible from East Cowes via the Floating Bridge. This is a continuous service for foot passengers and vehicles which runs throughout the day from very early till very late; crossing time approximately 1-2 minutes.

Yokogawa GMSC is located near the centre of Cowes only a short walk from the high speed ferry terminal, connecting with Southampton.
