ProSafe-COM comes as an Industrial PC with hard disk and uses Windows 2000 Pro as its operating system. The IPC is a 19 inch rack chassis with built-in power supply (AC or DC) and plugged-in single board computer. This IPC can easily be expanded with additional host and data acquisition interface cards to adapt to any customer’s communication needs.

The standard interfaces are: 2 serial ports, 1 parallel printer port, 2 Ethernet ports 10/100 Mbits/s, 2 USB ports.

The MULCOM software runs as a service on the IPC.

 

COM SET is a Windows-based, graphically oriented software package. It comprises editors, compilers and diagnostics capabilities. COM SET is a powerful tool during engineering, commissioning, test & maintenance of MULCOM. The functions available for engineering allow for efficient programming of the communication requirements for the safety applications.

COM SET can be used also for diagnostic purposes. It can provide status and event overviews of MULCOM. It can create reports for test, maintenance and repair. A MULCOM system can be tested even when it is not yet fully integrated in a DCS system. Using COM SET and the I/O emulation all interfaces with MULCOM can be tested easily and early in project development.
