The new functions of FAST/TOOLS version 8.4, released in 2007 is introduced.

Further enhancements of the standard redundancy solution are made as part of this FAST/TOOLS product release.

The High Availability Computing package provides a hot-standby FAST/TOOLS server configuration. The purpose of these features is to support redundant server configurations in order to reduce down-time.

The high availability features include:
- Redundant server support
- Monitoring CPU levels and activity of FAST/TOOLS processes
- Synchronising data between redundant servers
- Watchdog monitoring
- Logging, events and diagnostics of changes in the hot standby configuration

The FAST/TOOLS integration tool is an engineering tool that automates some of the steps required in a FAST/TOOLS-STARDOM project.
The wizard will automatically configure your faceplates based on your STARDOM configuration.
Faceplates from the STARDOM Application Portfolio NPAS are now available for this engineering tool.

FAST/TOOLS now supports LINUX as a new operating platform. The officially supported FAST/TOOLS Linux distribution is Redhat Enterprise Linux 4.
A mix of Operating Systems is possible for optimal performance and availability. For example LINUX server with Windows XP clients.
