These attacks are both against the IA system itself and information generated by and stored by these systems, particularly confidential and proprietary information.
Anomalies caused by incidentsIncidents related to cyber security of the IA system have been on the rise annually since 2000. According to the statistical information, the anomalies caused by the incidents are not only system failures (e.g. loss of operation or control) but also injury and loss of life. This clearly shows that the IA system has a very significant influence on its environment. Therefore, it is more important than ever to reduce risks. |

Cost of damages suffered at the occurrence of incidentsThis graph indicates the cost of damages that companies have suffered due to incidents. However it is difficult to calculate the exact cost of damages caused by incidents. Even if it is calculated, as many companies do not want to disclose the cost of damages, the graph does not contain them. Despite this background, as many as 19 incidents reportedly caused more than one million dollars worth of damage. Furthermore, the report said that in 11 incidents, the damage cost exceeded 10 million dollars. |
