Yokogawa Participates in Gastech 2011

Gastech 2011 was held at the RAI International Exhibition Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands from March 21 to 24.

Dynamic and innovative displays by over 400 exhibitors from 75 countries were spread out over six different halls at the RAI center, showcasing the latest developments and technologies within the gas industry. Exhibitors exceeded expectations this year not only in technical content but also in the quality and creativity of their booths. Models of vessels, turbines, and tanks as well as actual pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and various kinds of instrumentation were displayed and demonstrated.

The Yokogawa Europe booth highlighted some newly developed solutions that Yokogawa is putting forward under the VigilantPlant concept to bring its customers safety, asset, and production excellence. These included field instruments that are expected to soon receive MID approval, ProSafe-SLS (part of a standard HIPPS solution), InsightSuiteAE (a new deliverable for asset management), FAST/TOOLS, and a dynamic simulator for an LNG liquefaction plant.

A number of other booths at this trade show also included Yokogawa instruments in their exhibits, and Yokogawa solutions received attention in other ways, such as when someone staffing a booth mentioned that Yokogawa had provided the control system for a specific solution. Les Merrill of 212 Resources also referred to Yokogawa in a presentation about water management in the development of unconventional shale gas fields, a topic of considerable interest in the gas industry right now.

Gastech is a global event and it is held every 18 months. As it has a focus on technology it is a good platform for companies like Yokogawa to showcase new products and services and to meet customers, competitors, and partners. Many exhibitors like the EPCs are also our customers. Gastech may not directly bring in a lot of new business, but it provides the opportunity to network with lots of people in a relatively short period of time. Interacting with them would most likely require more effort and money if it had to be done by arranging meetings all over the world. In all, Yokogawa Europe’s personnel talked with approximately 200 people, either by receiving them at the Yokogawa Europe booth or by visiting them elsewhere at this exhibition.

Overall Gastech 2011 was a good event for Yokogawa and we are looking forward to participating again in London in 2012.
