Yokogawa Participates in ONS 2008

In August, Yokogawa participated in the Offshore Northern Seas 2008 (ONS 2008) exhibition in Stavanger, Norway. Approximately 1,200 companies had their products on display at this show, which drew over 26,000 visitors. Yokogawa shared its booth with Petrolink AS (www.petrolink.no) and presented a dramatization of a real life example of an integrated operations application, with a team of Yokogawa personnel playing the roles of onshore and offshore operators who worked together with suppliers to solve a problem involving a malfunctioning compressor. By using the latest communication technologies (wireless, broadband, helmet camera) and diagnostics (valve partial stroke testing, Plant Resource Manager), they showed how hazards and shutdowns could be avoided. While the actual incident 10 years ago on the North Sea took two weeks to resolve and caused a process shutdown, it was demonstrated that these technologies could be used to identify the problem cause in just one day.

After each demonstration, customers showed great interest in CENTUM VP and in other products that were on display, including a human-sized HIPPS positioned at the booth entrance and Yokogawa's largest magnetic flowmeter.

ONS 2008 was a very successful event for Yokogawa, with over 400 visitors coming to our booth. The event also generated large interest among Stavanger high schools and received a lot of newspaper and television news coverage.
