What is the IEC 61508 international standard?
IEC 61508 (1999) concerns functional safety. It takes into consideration such concepts as plant lifecycle and safety integrity level (SIL), which quantitatively defines the safety level of the SIS. IEC 61508 is a generic standard which applies to electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety-related systems, irrespective of their application. ProSafe-RS complies with IEC 61508.
