  Please come in.

A: Do you want something to drink?

Nani wo nomimasu ka?

B: Beer please. Bi-ru wo onegai shimasu.
What's this music? Kono ongaku wa nan desu ka?
It's Enka.*1 Kore wa Enka desu.
I love Enka! Watashi wa Enka ga daisuki desu!
  How about you? Anata wa?
A: No, not really... Iie, tokuni wa...
Food looks delicious. Ryori ga oishi sou desu ne.
May I take some? Itadaite mo ii desu ka?

  Culture Notes:
  1. Enka is a traditional Japanese folk-style music with very nasal intonation. Westerners and even some Japanese sometimes find it difficult to get used to, but it can be very beautifull and has a very large and devoted fan base, especially among the elderly.
  2. Yakitori is grilled chicken (and other meats) on a skewer, and yakisoba is a Japanese style chow/lo mein.

a = "ah" as in "taco" or "aloha"
i = "ee" as in "Tijuana" or "Waikiki"
u = "oo" as in "Eres tu" or "Luau"
e = "eh" as in "Espanol" or "Kameamea"
o = "oh" as in "Mexico" or "Molokai"
