1. What is the difference between event data and display data?
Event data are recordings of instantaneous values at each measurement interval. Display data are recordings of the maximum and minimum values of the data sampled within the display update time.

Display data
Measured data: 4 bytes/data; computed data: 8 bytes/data

Measured data: 2 bytes/data; computed data: 4 bytes/data

3. When looking at the acquired data, why is there a maximum value (MAX) and a minimum value (MIN)?
This is because display data is indicated for the data format. The maximum and minimum values of the multiple data measured in the measurement interval within the sampling interval are saved as display data.

4. I am recording display data on a 125 msec measurement interval DX (DX102, DX104, DX204, DX208). The data interval for the files is 0.5 seconds on the Viewer. Can't I view the 125 msec interval data?
With display data, the fastest (shortest) data save interval is 0.5 seconds (when the waveform update interval is set to 15 sec./div).
If you wish to save the 125 msec interval data, save it as event data.

5. How can I change the data save interval using of display data?
To change the data save interval of display data, change the display update interval. Note that the unit of the display update interval is "/div," and 30 data are saved per div. Thus, when the display update interval is 30 min/div, the sampling interval becomes 30/30 = 1 min.

Set the auto save interval to 1 day, then set the memory time up to the 0 hour under Day.

8. I set the display update interval for display data to 1 hour and set the auto save interval, but 31 days does not appear as a setting option. How can I set the auto save interval to 31 days?
The items that can be set are assigned to soft keys based on the display update interval, number of data save channels, and other parameters. To make a setting of 31 days available, you must enter setup mode and decrease the number of data save channels or lengthen the data update interval.

9. When the unit of the auto save interval for recording display data is set to 1 day, from when to when is "one day?"
Data is recorded from the pressing of the START button to one day thereafter. However, when used together with the memory time up function, the file can be divided, for example, at the 0 hour, and one day's worth of data can be recorded thereafter. In this case, a file is created every day at the 0 hour, resulting in recorded files of a determined time span.

10. What is the maximum number of data that can be saved to internal memory?
When recording only display data: up to 100,000.
When recording only event data: up to 120,000.
When creating both display and event data files at the same time: up to 75,000 display data, and up to 30,000 event data.

11. Can I view past display data?
Yes. You can use the Historical function.
You can perform a "Historical display" of display data in the internal memory or external medium.

12. Acquired data that I view on the DX has extension .DDS, but can I view this data on a PC? What is the data format?
Data acquired on the DX is in binary, and cannot be viewed as-is on the PC. Dedicated software (DAQSTANDARD) is required to view the contents.

Event data recording

1. What exactly is "event data?"
Event data are the instantaneous values of each sampling interval.
Event data can be saved at shorter intervals than display data, making them useful for performing more detailed analyses.

2. Can event data also be viewed using a historical trend display?
Yes they can.

3. When in the E+D recording mode, I can record display data (.dds) but not event data.
In E+D mode, the event recording function does not enable continuous triggered recording. The trigger settings are probably incorrect. Please check the trigger settings entered in SETUP mode.
