With digital indicating controllers, various parameters are entered and edited using the front panel keys. In order to prevent accidental changing of PID values, alarm settings, and other parameters during normal operation, these settings are buried somewhat deeply within the screen hierarchy. This can be very inconvenient if the application requires that the parameters be changed frequently.
The Select Screen function can be useful in such cases. It allows you to display parameters that you wish to use frequently during operation in the operation screen. Normally the PV/SP, PV/OUT, and other values are cycled through by pressing the SET key, but you can also have it cycle through multiple parameters such as alarm 1 and its settings, alarm 2 and its settings, and so on, and edit those settings on the spot.
Depending on the model, 4 or 5 parameters can be registered. The figure below shows the screens on the UT551.
Almost any parameter can be registered by copying the parameter’s register number (D****) to the C.S△(△=1–5) parameter.
*This function is not available with the UT100 series and UD series instruments.
