Yokogawa Wins a Contract to Supply DCS for Combined Cycle Power Plant* in Spain and Concludes Alliance Agreement with SIEMSA**

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced that SIEMSA, a Spanish engineering company, has awarded a contract to Yokogawa for supplying a DCS (Distributed Control System) for an 800 MW combined cycle power plant in Bilbao, Spain. This is the first contract Yokogawa won in Europe to supply DCS for a combined cycle power plant. The Global Power Solutions Center (GPSC) which was founded in April, 2001 to play an active role in the global power market shows its successful results.

The scope of supply is to provide CENTUM CS3000 / UOI (Unified Operator Interface), DCS for the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and the Balance of Plant (BOP). Their engineering will be handled by SIEMSA.

Yokogawa's CENTUM CS 3000 / UOI is a joint development with GE which enables seamless operation between GE turbine control system and Yokogawa's DCS. Turbine, and HRSG and BOP are traditionally controlled in different systems, which needs operators to master two operation methods. The UOI provides a common operator interface for the turbine controls and the DCS to solve this problem. As the plant adopts GE's turbine, the end user, BBE - BAIA BIZKAIA ELECTRICIDAD ***, appreciated UOI's operationally, system reliability, and high cost-effectiveness as a result of engineering standardization.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Yokogawa concluded an alliance agreement with SIEMSA in order to make the best use of each other's strengths and to cooperate in the highly competitive global power market. Yokogawa will supply CENTUM CS 3000 / UOI, sensors, and analyzers to SIEMSA, and SIEMSA will provide a total solution to the customers from system designing to device installation utilizing their engineering technology.

* Combined cycle power plant: the power plant which improves efficiency of generating power by allowing waste heat from a gas turbine to generate steam and rotate a steam turbine.
** SIEMSA: SIEMSA CONTROLY SISTEMAS S.A., affiliates of Gamesa
*** BBE - BAIA BIZKAIA ELECTRICIDAD: consortium companies invested by IBERDROLA, REPSOL, BP-AMOCO, and ENTE VASCO DE ENERGIA
