Yokogawa Releases Exaquantum Plant Information Management System R2.01

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced that it has developed Exaquantum R2.01, an upgraded version of the Exaquantum Plant Information Management System(PIMS) for petroleum, chemical, and other various types of plants.

Enhanced Functionality

WEB SERVER

This facilitates displaying data which has been collected or saved on Exaquantum through standard internet browsers, thus enabling plant monitoring and data access from remote locations.

- GRAPHIC CONVERTER

Upgrades the existing graphic capabilities built into the software, Exaquantum R2.01 enables the accessing of screen images of the CENTUM CS 1000 and CENTUM CS 3000 Distributed Control Systems (DCS) by Exaquantum clients.

- DATA CATCH-UP

Data that is missing due to downtime of Exaquantum servers for system maintenance, etc. can be automatically interpolated after recovery of the server, which has greatly improved reliability.

- LARGE-SCALE SYSTEM SUPPORT

Exaquantum R2.01 can be incorporated into large systems with up to as many as 100,000 tags - the world's largest capacity for this type of software.

CLOSING FUNCTIONS, ALARM AND EVENT HANDLING

Data regarding alarms and events (including equipment startups and stoppages) that help analyze plant-operating statuses can be collected while performing the previously incorporated closing (data summarization) functions on the server. No other PIMS products allow these two functions to occur simultaneously.

Features of Exaquantum

Exaquantum specifically falls under the PIMS category of MES products. It acquires data from PCS for plant monitoring, status analysis, and history administration, and also functions as a data server for the subsequent transfer of collected data to upper ERP systems. Exaquantum can expedite the information flow from field to management areas, thereby realizing real-time management.

Since its introduction in December 2000, Exaquantum has been performing reliably in installations around the globe, and has recently been chosen as the standard PIMS for a major oil refining corporation.

Operation can be implemented immediately after installation
Fully expandable and flexible depending on the plant scale
Exaquantum is the world's first PIMS to offer closing (data summarization) functions
Includes a wide range of functions, including monitoring and analysis
Can receive messages from DCS
Industry standard Microsoft WindowsR platform

Yokogawa's Approach toward PIMS

Yokogawa started marketing PIMS packages for Unix in 1990, and has sold more than 250 systems to date to various enterprises, including chemical, petrochemical, and water supply and processing industries. As expressed in Yokogawa's "Enterprise Technology Solutions" concepts that were announced in 1997, to provide the best solutions using the latest technologies from the standpoint of business operation, the purchase of a leading British PIMS vendor, Marex Technology Limited (now called Yokogawa Marex Limited), was completed in the same year.

By focusing the advanced technologies and marketing savvy of Yokogawa-Marex on the aggressive development of PIMS products for Windows, the first Exaquantum system was developed and rolled out to the marketplace. Today, the upgraded Exaquantum R2.01 will serve as the core of Yokogawa's information solutions.
