June 3, 2003 Yokogawa Releases DAQWORX Data Acquisition Software Suite Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the release on June 6 of DAQWORX, a PC-based integrated data acquisition software package for acquiring and recording data from equipment used in the production and research & development environments. The DAQWORX data acquisition software acquires and records data such as flow rate, pressure, temperature and voltage from production and test equipment.
With DAQWORX, users can configure a variety of data acquisition systems without having to perform any special programming tasks. Such systems include recorders, data acquisition equipment, measuring instruments and instrumentation equipment from Yokogawa. This package also makes it possible for users to easily expand the measurement bandwidth and application range by adding software to their existing data acquisition systems that has been optimized for their specific application needs. Yokogawa already provides data acquisition software packages that are dedicated for exclusive use with the DA100 data acquisition unit and the newly released MX100 data acquisition unit. These software packages also do not require any complex programming and are ready for immediate application. However, some users may want to customize their packages by, for example, providing them with advanced functions that match the production or R&D equipment that they have in use. In that case, they would have to either ask the data acquisition software vendor to undertake the customization, or independently configure the systems using SCADA*1, Visual Basic (VB)*2 or C++ programming software. There is a strong potential demand for software packages such as DAQWORX that do not require advanced programming skills and can be easily customized by users. The demand for PC-based data acquisition equipment is steadily increasing because of the advanced functionality (including the ability to generate reports) and low price of personal computers. Product Features DAQWORX has three classes of software components. Users can build data acquisition systems optimized for their application environments by selecting a combination of individual software components from the available lineup.
*1 SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software is programming software with which users can build a system for monitoring and controlling measured data using a personal computer. About Yokogawa Yokogawa's global network of 19 manufacturing facilities and 89 companies spans 32 countries. Since its founding in 1915, the US$4 billion company has been engaged in cutting-edge research and innovation, securing more than 7,500 patents and registrations, including the world's first digital sensors for flow and pressure measurement.
