Sales Launch of Seven New Modules for DAQMASTER MX100
PC-based Data Acquisition Unit

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that it is launching the sale today of seven I/O modules that have been newly developed for the DAQMASTER MX100 PC-based data acquisition unit. These modules and their applications are:
 - Strain input: mechanical displacement and stress measurement
 - Four-wire resistance temperature detector (RTD): precision temperature measurement
 - Four-wire resistance: resistance measurement
 - Digital input: factory process monitor
 - DC voltage output: signal transmission to control equipment and actuator operation
 - DC current output: same as the above
 - Pulse width modulation output: same as the above

Development Background

PC-based data acquisition equipment is utilized to measure voltage, temperature, current, flow rate, pressure, and other types of data. The measured data are collected and recorded for use in such fields as research and development, experimentation, assessment, and manufacturing. PCs serve as the human machine interface, and input units can be increased as the points of measurement increase. Thanks to this ability to accommodate increases in the points of measurement and effortlessly handle data, the market for PC-based data acquisition equipment is growing.

The DAQMASTER MX100 was introduced in April 2003 in response to the demand in the general-purpose measurement instrument market for high-speed, multi-channel equipment with high withstand voltage. Target markets include the automobile, electronics, machinery, steel, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food industries as well as private- and public-sector research institutions.

The modules going on sale today enable the DAQMASTER MX100 to adjust to many more types of inputs and outputs, and to serve a wider range of applications.

Features of the DAQMASTER Series

1. High speed: a drastically reduced measurement interval of 10 ms (50 times faster than our DA100)
2.  Multi-channels: up to 1200 channels (when Yokogawa software is used)
3.  3700 Vrms (one minute) and 600 Vrms/VDC (continuous) (approximately four times better than the DA100)
4. Multi-intervals: simultaneous measurement of high-speed and low-speed signals. Data which change gradually, such as temperature, can be measured using a long measurement interval; data which change quickly, such as voltage, can be measured using a short measurement interval.
5.  Flexible system configuration: a system need only include those modules that are necessary. An optimum system can be configured to accommodate a large number of measurement points.
