Yokogawa Electric Corporation has developed the DXAdvanced Data Acquisition Station series of paperless recorders and will release this on November 9. The DXAdvanced Series is a core building block of Yokogawa's VigilantPlant™ solutions that promise to bring operational excellence to visionary plants, creating an environment where plant personnel can See Clearly, Know in Advance, and Act with Agility.
The DXAdvanced Series is the successor to the DX100 and DX200 models and its two models are the DX1000, which has a screen size of 5.5 inches, and the DX2000, with a screen size of 10.4 inches. In addition to having a multi-channel system that increases the number of signal input channels, the new models feature increased data acquisition and recording speeds, have substantially improved basic functions, and are suitable for an expanded range of applications.
Yokogawa plans to exhibit the DXAdvanced Series at the ISA EXPO 2005, the biggest control instruments trade fair in North America, to be held from October 25; and at the Measurement and Control Show 2005 TOKYO, to be held at the Tokyo Big Sight international exhibition center from November 9. In addition, Yokogawa will open a new website, www.daqstation.com, to promote the release of the DXAdvanced Series.
Development Background
There are two types of industrial recorders: the conventional type, which prints measurement data on recording paper, and the new type, which records such data on electronic media. This second type is rapidly spreading in popularity. Yokogawa has long been active in the industrial recorders businesses, and our combined market share in the aforementioned two categories is one of the largest in the world industrial recorder market. In 1999 we released the DX100 and the DX200, our first Ethernet compatible models, and both have sold well.
In order to achieve our goal of acquiring the number one position in the global IA market by the year 2010, we are stepping up our product development efforts and releasing the new DXAdvanced Series onto the global market. The basic performance and operability of the new series have been significantly enhanced to meet user needs for a greater number of channels, larger storage capacity, and faster processing speed, while maintaining the high reliability of previous models.
Overview of Functional Enhancement
1. Enhanced basic performance and expanded applications
- Greater number of channels
The maximum number of signal input channels in the DX1000 is 12, and in the DX2000 it is 48. The employment of an expansion I/O unit with the DX2000 can increase that maximum number to 348.
- High-speed measurement
The shortest measurement interval is 25 milliseconds, which is five times faster than previous models. This makes it possible to carry out more detailed monitoring of process conditions.
- Large-capacity storage device
The capacity of the built-in storage device for long-term data acquisition has been increased to 200 MB, which is 170 times larger than that of previous models. With previous models, for example, the storage device had to be cleared every month when 6-channel temperature measurement was performed. With the larger storage capacity of the DXAdvanced Series, users will hardly ever need to worry about this.
2. Enhanced user-friendliness and operability
- Improved display and editing of data
By setting an alarm threshold value in advance, measurement data can be displayed in red when that value is exceeded, thereby improving the ease of monitoring. Comments can also be added to the measurement data displayed on the monitor.
- Inclusion of Favorite key
Frequently used screens can be added to a Favorite list and be easily called up just by pressing the Favorite key.
- USB interface
The DXAdvanced Series has an optional USB interface. With the USB interface, measurement data can be saved onto a USB storage device, and a keyboard can be connected to add comments to measurement data displayed on the monitor.

Industries such as power supply, water and sewer services, iron and steel, petrochemicals, chemicals, paper and pulp, food, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and electronics, for use at the production site.
