Tokyo, Japan -
August 20, 2007 for Largest Petrochemical Project in Thailand Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that Yokogawa (Thailand) Ltd., a subsidiary in Thailand, has received a contract to supply control systems, field sensors, and other devices for a petrochemical plant complex construction project of Map Ta Phut Olefins Co., Ltd., a petrochemical company of the Siam Cement Group. Yokogawa will participate in the project from an early stage as a main automation contractor (MAC)* together with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors. This will enable the company to contribute to the standardization of control device specifications, improvement of engineering quality, and reduction of costs and delivery times. This is the first time Yokogawa has won an MAC contract in Thailand. For higher propylene output, an olefins conversion technology (OCT) will be used that converts butene and ethylene to propylene using a catalyst. The plant will also employ the latest technology to enable the use of such materials as naphtha as well as light condensate obtained from the natural gas extraction and generation process. Yokogawa will continue to provide optimum solutions from the user perspective based on leading edge technologies to all industries operating in Thailand, a country that is growing steadily, and will focus on increasing market share. * There is an increasing tendency for plant owners to place control system orders directly with control system suppliers in order to increase plant construction efficiency and reduce costs and delivery period. About Yokogawa Yokogawa's global network of 18 manufacturing facilities, 84 companies, and over 650 sales and engineering offices spans 33 countries. Since its founding in 1915, the US$4 billion company has been engaged in cutting-edge research and innovation, securing more than 7,000 patents and registrations, including the world's first digital sensors for flow and pressure measurement. Industrial automation and control, test and measurement, information systems and industry support are the core businesses of Yokogawa.
