Yokogawa's CENTUM VP Integrated Production Control System Receives CIS Science and Technology Award

Tokyo, Japan - September 26, 2013

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its key platform product for the industrial automation and control business, the CENTUM® VP integrated production control system, has received a Science and Technology Award in the Excellent Product category from the China Instrument and Control Society (CIS)*.

The award was presented on August 27 in a ceremony that was conducted at the opening of the 24th International Conference and Fair for Measurement Instrumentation and Automation (Miconex 2013), a CIS-sponsored event in Beijing, China. A representative of Yokogawa China Co., Ltd., a Yokogawa subsidiary, accepted the award certificate on Yokogawa's behalf.

The CIS Science and Technology Award was established by National Office for the Science & Technology Awards and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, and is considered to be highly prestigious and influential. This year, 29 products won this award in the Excellent Product category, and it is particularly noteworthy that Yokogawa was one of only two non-Chinese companies to receive this honor.

Through this award, the CIS has indicated its appreciation of the VigilantPlant® concept for operational excellence, the advanced technology and high reliability of Yokogawa's CENTUM VP product platform, and the economic benefits derived from the use of this platform solution in a number of megaprojects, including a 10 million ton per year refinery and a one million ton per year ethylene plant. Yokogawa will continue to provide high-value added solutions to its customers in China.

* The China Instrument and Control Society (CIS) is a registered academic and public nonprofit organization made up of professionals from the measurement & control and instrumentation science & technology fields who participate on a voluntary basis. The CIS is an important voice on topics related to the development of measurement & control and instrumentation science & technology. It was founded on March 29, 1979.
