1. How are APC products typically interfaced to DCS systems?
What is the preferred communications method?

Yokogawa APC products are connected to DCS via an OPC interface. Yokogawa has considerable experience implementing APC products on various vendors' DCSs.

2. What are the platform specifications for APC software implementation?

- Standard IBM PC/AT (DOS/V) compatible workstation or server:
- Windows 2000, 2003, and XP are now supported. Windows 2008 and Vista support will be added in 2009.

3. Are APC software packages capable of implementing multiple controller instances within the same environment?

Yes.
- Exasmoc (Yokogawa Multi-variable Optimizing Controller) is composed of multiple main controllers, with each of these having its own sub-controllers. A main controller can share the control results with its sub-controllers. A sub-controller corresponds to a conventional model predictive control (MVC) controller.
- Exarqe (Yokogawa Robust Quality Estimator) is composed of multiple estimators. Each estimator has multiple predictors.
