Application Notes
<Application>
To check whether the pilot symbols of IQ signals (before diffusion process by transmitter and after reverse diffusion process by receiver) are correctly transmitted and received.

<Problems>
A pilot symbol consists of a 2 to 16 bit pattern. It is very difficult to find it in a long data stream. Also, since each time slot's pilot symbol has its own unique pattern, it requires a greater time to judge them visually.
<Solution Features>
The Yokogawa Model DL7440/DL7480 provides the following solution for this application:
  1. Long memoryenables you to capture several frames of data at 100 MS/s or more resolution.
  2. Since a pilot symbol has a specified bit pattern determined by each IQ signal, an I*Q waveform can be displayed by using the multiplication math function.
  3. The Serial Pattern Search function enables you to search for the pilot symbol using the multiplication waveform. By changing search patterns, each pilot symbol can be searched for more efficiently.

The #1 pilot symbol was found by using the Serial Pattern Search function over 2 frames of IQ signal and then was displayed using the Dual Zoom function.
