Funai Electric Co.,Ltd. Chooses the "TA320", "TA520", "Just in Scope" DL1540CL, & "SignalExplorer" DL7100

Funai Electric Company Ltd.
DVD Engineering Department
Mr. Tadashi Tachibana, Electric Chief Engineer
I'm in charge of design for DVD players.
Just when we needed an oscilloscope that could capture high-speed signals, and one that came with long memory, we were introduced to the DL1540 " Just in Scope". Previously we had been very satisfied with the many DL series instruments from Yokogawa that we were using, so we didn't hesitate to purchase the DL1540CL.
We have to check the functionality of the DVD players at the finished product stage, and this requires lengthy tests on the various disks. When we want to capture malfuntions that occur only rarely during the day, we can run the test at night and capture the data in the long memory, then we can analyze the captured data the next morning using the history memory and zoom functions.
If there are any abnormal waveforms, we can call up those screens again, overlay the entire screen data stored in the history memory, and expand and display any particular area, so it's incredibly useful for analyzing failures.
We have several DL1540CL's that allow us to analyze malfunctions even when they occur in the technology lab in our Chinese factory. When evaluating the I2C Bus Analyzer Option, we found that when combined with history memory it's an indispensable tool for verifying the I2C Bus, and therefore we have decided to purchase that option as well.

We use an analog oscilloscope to view DVD RF signals, but when we want to view other signals simultaneously with the RF signals we use the DL7100 SignalExplorer. DL7100 has long memory and capability to measure 4 analog channels and 16 bit logic signals simultaneously. In addition, the history search function enables us to search for abnormal waveforms within that history memory automatically.

We also use the trigger function together with the above-mentioned functions since it's easy to enter conditions.

We have installed 30 of the TA320 Time Interval Analyzers on our DVD player mass production lines. On the line we're only concerned with jitter values and GO/NO-GO determinations. When we use instruments to analyze failures occurring there we go with the TA520, and analyze the jitter at each nT pulse width. We used to record the jitter value at each nT pulse width, but with the TA520 we can display the data in a histogram and as statistical values, so it's very convenient. Whenever we had difficulty operating the measuring instrument we called the customer service center, and the service staff would clearly and politely give us the explanations we needed; we are also very satisfied with YOKOGAWA's support system.
