"We have always found the scopes to be accurate and reliable"
Mr. David Corkery, Production engineering manager,
Panasonic AVC Networks Australia Pty. Ltd.
My name is David Corkery and I am the Production Engineering Manager
for Panasonic AVC Networks Australia. At our plant at Penrith we
manufacture color televisions primarily for the local market and
export some to New Zealand. The annual production for the past few
years has been around 100,000 units.
All of the models use the IIC bus system and many of the adjustments
can now be automatically done using a computer and a compatible
oscilloscope. With this change in technology we began using Yokogawa
scopes and now have approximately 18 varying from the DL1200 which
was used in the early days to our latest purchase of the
DL1740.
The main measurements modes we use are for DC voltage levels and
some AC and RMS voltage checks. By using different channels and
switching between them we can use the one scope and make several
different adjustments. The programmes are developed by our engineers
in the workshop prior to being installed into the production line.
By being able to automate some of the alignment stations we have
been able to increase productivity and gain more consistent results
compared with the original manual system. We have always found the
scopes to be accurate and reliable which is important as our adjustment
lines are now dependant upon their successful operation.
