Dr. Ichiro Masaki
BS and MS, Waseda University, Ph.D., Osaka University After graduation, Dr. Masaki engaged in the study of image sensing for application in Factory Automation robots at a heavy industrial machinery manufacturer in Japan. From 1981 to 1993 he was involved with the development of Intelligent Cruise Control, combining the technologies of automobiles and television. He is the Founding General Chair of the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Conferences. Dr. Masaki was invited to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1994. He is now a Professor at MIT and President of the MIT Intelligent Transportation Research Center (ITRC), Vice Chair of the IEEE ITS Council, and consultant to private companies and government offices in the U.S.A. and Japan.

The MIT ITRC was established in the Microsystems Technology Laboratory to focus on both system design and core technology development, to integrate technological possibility and social demand, and to interface between the industrial world and government service. Currently 5 MIT professors are collaborating in the objectives of the MIT ITRC.
