Without any complicated software programming, the WE7000 base stations (WE400/WE800) are equipped with a bus for the input/output of two trigger signals(BUSTRG1 and BUSTRG2), and one time base signal (sampling clock, CMNCLK) to the I/O terminals on each of the modules and the base staion fron panel. They work simply by connecting each line to the modules, TRIGIN and EXT I/O within the Trigger Setup control panel.

The bus trigger signal is used to provide the timing in acquiring data. The CMNCLK (sampling clock) is used to provide the timing for the A/D sampling and the time for latching the digital signal. An arming signal is also provided so that multiple modules can start their measurement simultaneously. The bus trigger signal and CMNCLK signal are provided by the following sources:
- Modules
- Signal from external trigger input on the front panel (TRIGIN)
- Signal from external input/output connecter on the front panel (EXT I/O)
- Communication Module (Slot 0)
- Manual Arming and Manual Trigger to generate those signals manually
