Multivariable pressure/flow transmitter with FOUNDATION Fieldbus capability
A FOUNDATION Fieldbus version of the Yokogawa EJX910A multivariable pressure/flow transmitter is now available from Yokogawa UK Ltd., along with a flow configuration tool using FDT/DTM technology based software.
The patented DPharp single-crystal silicon resonant sensor technology ensures high accuracy, provides superior overpressure protection, minimises the effect of temperature and static pressure changes and provides a unique multi-sensing capability. Multi-sensing is the measurement of both differential and static pressure from a single sensor. The EJX910A provides an additional multi-variable capability of bringing in an external process temperature measurement to the transmitter. The new transmitter therefore provides a measurement of six variables: differential pressure, static pressure (on the ‘high’ and ‘low’ sides), process temperature, capsule temperature, and amplifier temperature. It can transmit five variables selected from the above list plus dynamically calculated and fully compensated mass flow measurement function.
The FSA120 configuration tool designed for use with the EJX910A FOUNDATION Fieldbus version includes the flow calculation function with support for the physical properties of 126 different fluids, plus a transmitter management function for setting key FOUNDATION Fieldbus parameters in conjunction with a device field management tool such as Yokogawa’s FieldMate Advance.
The FOUNDATION Fieldbus version of the EJX910A, offering powerful multivariable facilities in a compact package, is expected to be particularly attractive for applications such as upstream oil and gas, where pressure and temperature measurement are mandatory at every well, remote operation of unmanned sites is becoming the norm, and a reduction in the overall number of devices is welcomed to reduce power consumption.
