Pulp and Paper

Untitled Document
A pulp and paper mill is a plant devoted to making pulp and paper from raw materials containing cellulose fibers, generally wood, recycled paper, and agricultural residues. In developing countries, about 60% of cellulose fibers originate from nonwood raw materials such as bagasse (sugar cane fibers), cereal straw, bamboo, reeds, esparto grass, jute, flax, and sisal. The pulp used in papermaking is washed, refined, cleaned and sometimes bleached.

Pulp stock contains corrosive chemicals, high temperatures and pressures and abrasive slurries. Yokogawa offer instruments to help monitor critical steps In the process of papermaking. Such as pH/or conductivity during the pulp preparation within the stocks or during the cleaning or purifying stage of the recycled wastewater. The pH and conductivity is measured during pulp preparation as well as at the head box. Caustic activity is crucial for the formation of paper and an end product.

 Steps for Paper Making

  1. Forestry
  2. Debarking, chipping, and/or recycling
  3. Pulp Preparation
  4. Paper Formation
  5. Paper Finishing
