Water and Wastewater

water

Wastewater is any water that has been adversely affected in quality by anthropogenic influences. It includes substances such as food scraps, oils, soaps and chemicals.  In the most common usage, it refers to the municipal wastewater that contains a broad spectrum of contaminants resulting from the mixing of wastewaters from different sources. Businesses and industries also contribute their share of used water that must be cleaned.

Environmental regulations require some form of waste pretreatment prior to discharge into municipal sewage systems. Raw industrial waste streams, especially those with low pH values, can damage sewage system piping and destroy the micro-organisms in the sewage treatment plant itself. Yokogawa offers ability for reliable continuous measurements of dissolved oxygen, pH, ORP, conductivity, and turbidity.
