Matt Arcy
Matt is a Senior Control Systems Engineer for ChevronTexaco’s Energy Research and Technology Company in Richmond, CA. Matt earned his BS degree in Marine Engineering Systems from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, and his MS in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University. He joined ChevronTexaco in 1990 and has held positions as a marine engineer, project engineer and consulting engineer within their central engineering department. This is his fifth year on the UGM Steering Committee.

Chuck Fortner
Chuck Fortner, PE is a Senior Control and Information Systems Engineer at Precision Engineering Inc. in Mobile, AL. Chuck earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Alabama in 1991.
After graduating, he worked in the industry first as a control system engineer and then as a software developer. He joined Precision Engineering in 1998, where he has provided technical leadership, project management, and project execution for numerous control system and information system projects. This is his third year on the committee.

Stuart Knott
Stuart Knott, SABIC-IP, is a Process Control Engineer for SABIC-IP in Burkville, AL. He earned a BS in Chemical Engineering and a MS in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University. Stuart has more than 25 years of Process Automation experience through Chemical, Pulp & Paper, and Government employments. His background includes numerous infrastructure and advance control projects.This is his second year on the UGM Steering Committee.

Chuck Hartshorn
Chuck Hartshorn is a Process/Project Engineer at Reichhold, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. He earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University in 1983. Following his graduation, he started with Reichhold in Dover, Delaware. Chuck installed Reichhold's first Yokogawa MicroXL system at the Cheswold, Delaware site in 1988. He worked with Yokogawa to install Reichhold's first Foundation Fieldbus segments with CS3000 in 2000. He coordinates process and automation improvements at Reichhold's manufacturing facilities. He supports Reichhold's global process historian system. This is his second year on the committee.

Darren Goodlin
Darren is currently Manager, Instrumentation Technologies (the process Instrumentation Technology Development Group) at ABInBev (A-B) corporate engineering in St. Louis, MO. Darren graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology 1987. After graduating he began working at Comstock Engineering in Pittsburgh, PA and was assigned as the lead design engineer on the Toyota Automotive plant on the water management and distribution system. Darren then moved to St. Louis to work at A-B in late 1987 with responsibility to integrate automation and instrumentation system into the brewing process. From 1987 through 2001 Darren has scoped, designed, implemented and commissioned many brewing projects throughout the U.S., and A-B’s breweries in UK and China. Responsibilities at A-B included; PLC logic standards development, instrumentation development and application standardization, One of Darren’s favorite projects was for the University of California at Davis research pilot brewery where he designed, fabricated and commissioned the electrical and instrumentation system for the 45 gallon brewing system. He is a member of Master Brewers of the Americas, (Technical Chair) and ISA District St. Louis. This is his second year on the Steering Committee.

Dr. Chin Hieng Yong, Shell |
Dr. Chin Hieng Yong
Dr. Chin was born in Miri, Malaysia, and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Control Engineering from the University of Leeds in the UK (1978), a MSc degree in Instrument Design and Applications (1979), and PhD in Control Engineering from University of Manchester in the UK (1983).
He joined Shell Exploration and Production in 1983 and has worked in Miri – an oil town in East Malaysia -- and Aberdeen, Scotland, prior to taking his assignment in New Orleans in 2002. He has held various positions including that of Senior Instrument Engineer, Senior Project Liaison Engineer, Head Instrument Operations Support, Head Maintenance Engineering, Maintenance Strategy Consultant, and Technical Authority, Instrumentation & Control.
His current position in Shell EP Projects, Floating Systems/Surface Facilities group is Lead Controls & Automation Engineer.
Dr. Chin is a registered Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council, UK, and a member of Institute of Measurement and Control, UK. This is his second year on the Steering Committee.
