Important Notice Concerning Operation of PT500 Autopilot System in Event of Emergency Alarm

The PT500 autopilot system is equipped with a variety of navigation safety alarm functions.
These functions include SERVO LOOP and FB FAIL in emergency alarms that are issued in high urgency situations involving the detection of an abnormality that could lead to the loss of one or more follow-up steering control channels

To prevent a steering malfunction such as a rudder hard-over, newer models of the PT500 autopilot system have an automatic function that immediately forces the rudder to maintain its current position when either a SERVO LOOP or FB FAIL is issued. If this occurs, immediately take the following actions to restore steering control:

1) Switch to NFU steering mode.

2) Switch to the steering gear pump to stand-by one. If both steering gear pumps are operating when the emergency alarm is issued, stop steering gear pump on abnormal system.

Be sure to do the above whenever an emergency alarm is issued, and also contact your nearest Yokogawa sales/service office or agent.
