DTSX1 – Fire detection for multi-storey warehouse

Conventionally, the only way to detect fires and control temperatures in large multi-story warehouses was to install larger quantities of temperature sensors at multiple locations. That's different now. Why? Because of the DTSX1 from Yokogawa! The fiberglass-based linear heat detector is specifically designed for fire protection and fire detection in large installations and infrastructures such as conveyor belts, cable ducts, buildings and tunnels.

Multi-storey Warehouse

Conventionally, the only way to detect fires and control temperatures in large-scale multi-storey warehouses was to install massive temperature sensors in multiple locations. DTSX1 monitor the temperature continuously every 1m along the optical fibre, it enables to dense temperature monitoring which was previously impossible.

What is DTSX1?

DTSX1 is a fiber optic based linear heat detector that specifically developed for fire prevention and fire detection on large facilities and infrastructure such as conveyor belt, cable tray, building, and tunnel. It stores the alarm functions required for heat detection in one box. DTSX1 analyzes the temperature data with high accuracy by measuring with fiber optic sensor cable and perform high temperature heat detection.

Alarm Management

DTSX1 belongs to the Yokogawa OpreX product strategy. OpreX is the all-new comprehensive brand for Yokogawa’s industrial automation and control business. The OpreX brand stands for excellence in the technology and solutions that Yokogawa cultivates through the co-creation of value with its customers. Under this new brand may be found all the Yokogawa control products. As well as services and other solutions that customers are using to digitalize and transform their businesses and drive growth in this time of unprecedented change. Under the OpreX brand name and based on the Co-innovating tomorrow corporate brand slogan, Yokogawa will continue to co-create value with its customers and thereby help to create a brighter future for all.

Fire detection for 3D Automatic Warehouse

Although it is desirable to efficiently store flammability products such as batteries and spray cans in a 3D automatic warehouse, the risk of fire increases because the it is difficult to monitor from top to bottom. With existing spot-type temperature sensors and fire detectors, it is impossible to monitor all shelves in a three-dimensional automatic warehouse. However, DTSX contribute to safer operation by monitoring temperature of the shelves continuously by laying optical fibers on the shelves.

Which application areas is DTSX1 used for?

DTSX1 will be certified for EN54-22 and the heat detector is designed for civil constructions (building, tunnel, parking garage, etc.) and industrial applications. This is used for industrial equipment monitoring. This Fiber Optic Heat Detector is under certification of EN54-22 at VdS in Germany. Currently Yokogawa expect the VdS certificate between December 2019 and January 2020. The concept of the DTSX1 is designed for rough industrial environments like dust, corrosion, heat, smoke, vibration and exhaust. With DTSX1 unnormal temperature conditions can be detected within short time and related to corresponding zone.

A brief summary of the most important points of DTSX1

  • The DTSX1 is designed to withstand the effects of dust, corrosion, heat, smoke, vibration and exhaust gases in industrial environments.
  • Zone-exact localisation of the fire location in the shortest possible time.
  • Simple configuration and standardized interfaces (HW & SW).
  • VdS approval according to EN 54-22.
