Today we had the chance to speak to Dr. David Sustr, our new colleague in our Life Business team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LI Blog: Thanks for joining the interview. Could you briefly introduce yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. David Sustr: <\/strong>Hi blog readers! My name is David. Currently, I work as a service and support engineer for Yokogawa. I joined Yokogawa\u2019s Life Business team in August 2021.  My scientific background lays in the overlapping fields of biochemistry and materials engineering. For my job at Yokogawa, I am combining my skills with a technical way of understanding the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working as a service and support engineer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LI Blog:<\/strong> As a service and support engineer, <\/em>what are your main tasks?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. David Sustr: <\/strong>Simply put, making the processes and tools such as high content analysis platform CellVoyager or confocal spinning disc unit CSU to run to the wishes of the users. It requires a deep understanding of the current state of the art. Careful analysis of the situation enables us to comprehend the possibilities, objectives, and ways to go. Only through understanding can the right steps be taken and the system constructively intervened. Of course, my colleague and I are also the first point of contact for troubleshooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LI Blog:<\/strong> What do you like most about your job?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. David Sustr:<\/strong> The good feeling when supporting users in their various situations and challenges. Joining the endeavor of users and providing them with solutions they need makes me tick. This would not be possible without a cooperative spirit within Yokogawa as well as towards our customers. The tools and solutions we provide are relatively complex. When working at the customer\u2019s place, I feel like standing on the shoulders of giants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fascination for Imaging Technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LI Blog:<\/strong> Why did you decide to specialize in imaging technology?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. David Sustr:<\/strong> This decision resulted from blending my interest in tech with my curious nature and my previous decisions to go for life science. \u00a0It fills me with joy when I can understand what hides behind the phenomena around me. \u00a0It drives me to seek answers. This fascination directed me unambiguously towards natural science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work culture at Yokogawa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LI Blog:<\/strong> So far, what do you like most about working at Yokogawa?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. David Sustr: <\/strong>The cooperation spirit.  This spirit is probably arising from the trust that we, as employees and individuals, do our best and from elementary respect for personal differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
