Gustavo Cerezo

My name is Gustavo Cerezo. I am currently living in Buenos Aires. I have worked in instrumentation, automation and control for oil and gas for more than 25 years mostly working with EPC companies, but also as the manager of Digital Oilfield in YPF. Currently, I am responsible as country manager for Yokogawa in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, where we have many challenges and a great team. Working at Yokogawa so far has been highly enjoyable, since we share experiences, interesting business and relaxing moments with my colleagues in offices all over the world.

Diversity: the key to innovation

When a problem is complex, or we need to find new answers, every person has their hidden points in their thinking that can be attributed to their gender, their culture, their education, etc. And in other people, those hidden points are simply visible. If everyone in the ream has the same hidden points, they are likely to get even more hidden, and everyone in the homogeneous team will tend to avoid them. We will filter those points so they will not bother us. However, not everything is advantageous in diverse groups (at least in order to innovate), diversity can also be a source of problems.
