BP, een van de grootste olie- en gasbedrijven ter wereld, benaderde Yokogawa afgelopen jaar voor een <strong>nieuwe controlekamer met virtualisatietechniek in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bp.com\/nl_nl\/netherlands\/home\/wie-wij-zijn\/bp-raffinaderij.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rotterdam<\/a>.<\/strong> Met als doel om het huidige aantal vaten ruwe olie per dag (400.000) in de toekomst te kunnen blijven verwerken. Een gedeelte van het productieproces wordt vanuit deze eenheid bewaakt. Ten behoeve van de veiligheid moeten alle mogelijke scenario&#8217;s worden voorspeld, en <strong>de controlekamer moet ook volledig operationeel blijven in het geval van een noodsituatie.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Hoe we deze virtualisatiemissie hebben vervuld<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Op basis van deze voorwaarden was het geen optie om alles van de ene plaats naar de ander verhuizen z\u00f3nder iets te verbeteren. Immers, engineers houden er van om nuttige technologie te ontwikkelen die processen verbeteren. Ik vraag me dan ook altijd af: <strong>hoe kan ik mijn werk beter, sneller en effici\u00ebnter doen?<\/strong> De verhuizing naar de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yokogawa.com\/eu\/solutions\/services\/consulting\/control-room-design\/\">nieuwe controlekamer<\/a> was een uitgelezen kans om de IT-apparatuur te vernieuwen en de nieuwste virtualisatietechniek van Yokogawa te introduceren. Een oplossing die slimmer werkt en die BP CAPEX- en OPEX-kosten bespaart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We gingen van 25 individuele computers met elk een eigen functie, naar vier nieuwe, veel krachtigere computers.<\/strong> Deze vier computers bevatten alle bedieningssystemen. De technologie bestaat al langere tijd en is zo ver ontwikkeld dat die zelfs voor de olie-industrie, waar computers jarenlang 24\/7 moeten draaien, veilig kan worden gebruikt.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Kostenbesparing door virtualisatie<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Virtualisatie is een proces waarbij een virtuele representatie wordt gemaakt van een op software gebaseerde applicatie, server, opslag of netwerk.<\/strong> Dit is de meest effectieve manier om <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yokogawa.com\/eu\/blog\/oil-gas\/?p=2047\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IT-kosten te verlagen<\/a> en tegelijkertijd de effici\u00ebntie en flexibiliteit van grote bedrijven te verhogen. Met andere woorden:\u00a0 je hebt minder computers nodig die minder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yokogawa.com\/eu\/blog\/oil-gas\/?p=1228\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">onderhoud<\/a> vereisen, en dus minder kosten hebt. Deze virtualisatie techniek heeft veel potentie, van ontwikkeling tot implementatie. Er hoeven geen pc&#8217;s meer te worden ge\u00efnstalleerd. Bovendien zijn er aanzienlijk minder engineering-uren nodig, omdat veel kan worden geautomatiseerd. En er zijn meer voordelen. <strong>Het project, van bestelling, engineering, testen tot oplevering, is in een jaar afgerond.<\/strong> Dat is een zeer korte tijd voor zo&#8217;n complex project. Geweldig, toch? Ik voelde mij vereerd dat ik deel uitmaakte van dit project.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Co-innovating tomorrow<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ik vind het altijd leuk om nieuwe technologie\u00ebn te ontwikkelen. De afgelopen jaren heb ik meerdere projecten uitgevoerd, naast mijn werk op de serviceafdeling. Soms kom ik bij klanten die nog met oude systemen werken op basis van Windows XP of zelfs Unix. Het is fantastisch om dan nieuwe technologie\u00ebn te kunnen introduceren en ik ben altijd dankbaar als ik zie hoe tevreden klanten zijn.
