Dr. Andreas Helget becomes new President of Yokogawa Europe as of April 1

The Board of Directors of Yokogawa Electric Corporation has named 59 year old Dr. Andreas Helget as the new President of Yokogawa Europe. Dr. Helget succeeds Herman van den Berg, who will be going into retirement on March 31, 2021.

Dr.-Ing. Andreas Helget, President Yokogawa Europe B.V.

Helget, who holds a doctorate in engineering, began his career with the BASF Group in Lud-wigshafen and Antwerp, where he managed the specialist department for the optimization of process engineering production processes. He subsequently joined the Oil & Gas Solutions divi-sion of Siemens in Erlangen in 2004. His role there was to manage sales and operations, first for Germany and then with worldwide responsibility, before becoming CEO Oil & Gas Solutions within the Siemens Group.

In April 2016, Helget was appointed Managing Director of Yokogawa Germany. He was respon-sible in this role both for the Industrial Automation division at the headquarters in Ratingen and for Test and Measurement Systems in Herrsching. Three years later, in 2019, Helget took over as Vice President Operations for Yokogawa Europe, which is based in Amersfoort, The Nether-lands. In addition to his duties as Managing Director of Yokogawa Germany, he is currently also responsible in this capacity for the management of all European subsidiaries. With effect from April 1, 2021, Andreas Helget will be in overall charge of Yokogawa’s operations in Europe.

“I’m looking forward to being at the helm of Yokogawa in Europe; I see this as both an honor and a responsibility. There are a few future issues that are particularly close to my heart. For one thing, I firmly believe that Europe needs a strong pharmaceutical research and production presence. The Covid pandemic has made it abundantly clear how vital highly developed tech-nologies and expertise are to ensure a smooth supply chain, for instance. Yokogawa has an ex-cellent knowledge of pharmaceuticals, and together with our customers we’re optimally placed to tackle tomorrow’s challenges throughout Europe.
Another matter of great concern to me is the systematic pursuit of the UN’s Sustainable Devel-opment Goals. We at Yokogawa are keen to make real progress towards the greening of the process industry by helping to establish a circular economy. Yokogawa will play a part in es-tablishing cyclical economics as a basic concept in the European power and chemical sectors.” (Dr. Andreas Helget)
