Yokogawa President and CEO in Abu Dhabi to Reinforce Local Commitment
Yokogawa Electric Corporation today reinforced its commitment to local customers in Abu Dhabi and to the promotion of technological cooperation and advancements with local academic institutions.
New facility in Abu Dhabi
Today, Mr. Shuzo Kaihori, the President and CEO of Yokogawa Electric Corporation visited the site of Yokogawa Middle East’s new engineering and project execution facility in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, construction of which started in March 2010.
The new facility will complement Yokogawa Middle East’s existing sales and after-sales services capabilities in Abu Dhabi. To date, engineering work for the company’s local clients has been undertaken outside of Abu Dhabi.
The new facility is built in response to Yokogawa Middle East’s localization objectives and recognition of Abu Dhabi’s importance as a regional hub in the oil and gas business.
The main objectives of the new facility are:
- to well understand customers’ requirements by having closer contact with them,
- to provide better, more effective, and speedier project services to UAE customers, and
- to contribute to our customers’ business efficiency by reducing the cost of project execution and reducing the project execution cycle time.
In the last two years alone, Yokogawa Middle East has been awarded close to US$200 million in control system orders from clients such as Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO), Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co. (TAKREER), and so on.
Mr. Kaihori said: “As a global leader in industrial automation, Yokogawa continues its relentless pursuit of excellence and reaffirms its indisputable market position in Abu Dhabi. We can achieve and maintain this status only with the true, sincere support of our major customers in this valuable part of the world, including Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) group companies.
The main projects in Abu Dhabi to which Yokogawa Middle East is providing its world-class products and services expertise are the GASCO Habshan 5 Gas Processing Plant and NGL Train 4 projects, the ADCO Asab, Shah, and Sahil oilfield developments, ADCO’s Bab Gas Compression project, and TAKREER’s Ruwais Refinery Expansion.
Mr. Kaihori also provided details on a Memorandum of Understanding Yokogawa signed in December 2009 with the Petroleum Institute of Abu Dhabi, under which both parties will collaborate to provide education in instrumentation and control technologies.
He said: “The program will range from lectures on automation theory to practical experiments in laboratories. The trainees will be Petroleum Institute students as well as ADNOC group company employees. We will also collaborate with the Petroleum Institute to provide short courses taught by our experienced trainers and experts to meet the industry’s needs and requirements. The courses will cover not only control and instrumentation but also various other fields in which Yokogawa has expertise, including quality management, and health, safety and environment management.”
“We would like to create value together with our customers and help make our societies more sustainable. We will always look for those contributions that only Yokogawa can make by leveraging our technical strengths, and will continue to be a socially responsible company with spirited employees who hold their heads high.”
Yokogawa's global network of 25 manufacturing facilities and 80 companies spans 54 countries. Since its founding in 1915, the US$3 billion company has been engaged in cutting-edge research and innovation, securing more than 7,200 patents and registrations, including the world's first digital sensors for flow and pressure measurement.
