ADMAG TI - AXG with EtherNet/IP Communication Functionality

Migration of process control instrumentation communication to industrial Ethernet is well underway in many industries including power generation and transmission, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and water/wastewater. 

Yokogawa is preparing for the expected disruption to legacy Fieldbus communications with the release of our first industrial Ethernet-enabled field instrument, the ADMAG TI AXG with full-featured, mature EtherNet/IP functionality.


An advantage of EIP is the capability to handle large amounts of data at speeds of 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps, and up to 1500 bytes per packet. The Ethernet bi-directional digital communication performance makes it possible for the field instruments and control devices to be a complete on-line system, superseding the existing analog and/or Fieldbus transmission lines. Other advantages include:

  • Interoperability 
    EtherNet/IP specifications grant the interoperability of the field instruments without preparing designated software for the instrument. 
  • Improved Operation and Monitoring Function 
    An operation authority level setting is available to ensure safety, process data trend display, display backlight flashing (Squawk) function, as well as a data store/restore function with display unit internal memory or microSD card. 
  • Fluid Adhesion Level Diagnosis 
    Constant monitoring of the level of insulating substance on the electrodes makes it possible to determine when maintenance is required. 
  • Stable Measurement 
    Yokogawa's dual-frequency excitation method realizes stable flow measurement even under high flow noise in the fluid with highly concentrated slurry. 
  • Improved Maintainability 
    • Diagnostic functions installed for preventive maintenance of the plant
    • Diagnosis of the device (verification function) executed without demounting from piping
    • Detection of the process condition by monitoring the flow noise and electric conductivity of the fluid
    • Electrode insulation deterioration diagnosis, electrode adhesion diagnosis, and wiring connection diagnosis available
  • Network Structure 
    • Daisy chain - 2 ports are necessary
    • Network ring - 2 ports are necessary (Device Level Ring Support)
    • Network star - only 1 port is necessary; simultaneous use of other port for service or maintenance is possible
  • Web Server
    • Configure and diagnose for maintenance operation
