Topic: From HAZOP to SIL Classification Using LOPA
Presenter: Thia Cheong Meng, Principal Risk Consultant, Yokogawa Engineering Asia
Schedule: 13 October 2020 (Tuesday), 4pm - 5pm
About: LOPA is an analytical tool for assessing the adequacy of protection layers used to mitigate process risks. LOPA builds upon well-known process hazards analysis techniques. (e.g. event tree analysis).
Semi-quantitative measures are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the independent protection layers (barriers / safeguards) that prevent major hazardous events from occurring or mitigate the effects of the hazardous events in order to meet the acceptability / tolerable risk criteria. In this webinar, we will discuss how we progress from HAZOP to a SIL classification by utilizing LOPA.
